You should probably play the game before this.

I really like Earthbound. It's one of my favourite games! I really think Itoi did an amazing job at making a modern rpg.

In case you didn't know, Shigesato Itoi wanted to create an RPG like Dragon Quest, but in a normal American setting. With bats and frying pans instead of swords, and psychic powers instead of magic. And he created MOTHER, the prequel to Earthbound. While MOTHER is great too, the three-color palette and eye-straining colors really make it hard to play (which is funny because I was fine playing SMB). Now I'm gonna talk about why Earthbound is just so damn good.

In my opinion, it just has amazing humor. Like, most of the enemies are pretty ridiculous concepts (who thought hippies were a good idea i need to congratulate them), and most of the dialogue really makes me laugh (probably because my sense of humor is WACK lmao). It has an amazing story and a bunch of sad moments too, and it amazes me that anybody could come up with such a good idea for a game!

Earthbound inspired a CRAP ton of games, like Undertale, Deltarune, Citizens of Earth, OFF, OMORI, The LISA Series, Space Funeral, Citizens of Earth, YIIK (ew) Costume Quest, and a good couple other games in development (like one I want to make!)

No wonder it's such a good game!
